BAYELSA PDP RESOLVES TO CONTEST FORTHCOMING LGA ELECTIONS; PROMISES LEVEL PLAYING FIELD FOR ALL QUALIFIED ASPIRANTS
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has resolved to participate fully in the forthcoming Local Government Area elections in the State, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive politics and broad-based representation.
The resolution was reached at the 129th State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held on Thursday 13 August 2026, at the Party’s State Secretariat in Yenagoa, following extensive deliberations on the need to strengthen grassroots participation and ensure that Bayelsans have a meaningful sense of belonging in the State’s political structure, leadership and decision-making processes.

The SWC assured that the PDP platform remains open to every well-meaning and qualified Bayelsan who wishes to seek elective office under the Party in the forthcoming LGA elections, irrespective of background or political affiliation.
The Party therefore called on interested Bayelsans to take advantage of the opportunity, assuring that the PDP will provide a credible, inclusive and accessible platform for political participation while upholding the principles of fairness, competence and internal democracy.
Members of the State Working Committee said the resolution was to further demonstrate the PDP’s determination to remain a strong vehicle for grassroots development and responsive leadership across Bayelsa State.
