The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has further extended the deadline for the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants seeking to contest various elective positions on the platform of the party.
According to a statement issued by the party on Thursday, the deadline earlier scheduled to end on May 7, 2026, has now been extended to May 11, 2026, while the submission of completed forms will close on May 12, 2026.
The party also announced a rescheduling of its screening exercise, with screenings for State and National Assembly aspirants now fixed for May 13, 2026. Governorship and Presidential aspirants are to be screened on May 14, while appeals arising from the screening exercise will hold on May 15, 2026.
The PDP urged all interested aspirants to take advantage of what it described as the final extension to complete the necessary processes ahead of the primaries.
The development comes amid heightened political activities across party secretariats nationwide as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has called on interested Bayelsans to take advantage of the extension to obtain and submit their forms within the stipulated period.
Turnah stated that the party is poised and better positioned to ensure the emergence of the right kind of leadership across all levels, emphasizing that the PDP remains committed to conducting a free, fair, transparent, and credible process.
The State Chairman further reassured aspirants and party faithful of a level playing field for all contestants, in line with the party’s democratic principles and commitment to internal democracy.
