PDP Ward Congress 2026: Barr. George Turnah Commends Peaceful Exercise in Ogbia Ward 9, Kolo Town

The 2026 Ward Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbia Ward 9, Kolo Town, Bayelsa State, was successfully conducted in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere, drawing commendation from party leaders and stakeholders.

Acting Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State, George Turnah, monitored the congress in Kolo Town and praised party members for their maturity, discipline, and commitment to democratic principles throughout the exercise.

Speaking after observing the congress, Turnah described the process as transparent and rancour-free, noting that reports from across the 105 wards in Bayelsa State indicated a smooth and credible exercise.

According to him, the peaceful conduct of the congress demonstrates the strength, unity, and internal cohesion of the PDP at the grassroots level. He also urged party leaders and members to continue to uphold the party’s constitution and democratic values.

Turnah further appreciated party stakeholders and national officers who monitored the process to ensure it was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines.

At the end of the congress held in Kolo Town, delegates elected a new set of ward executives to pilot the affairs of the party at the grassroots level.

The newly elected officials include:

  • Hon. Progress Ederi – Ward Chairman
  • Hon. Samuel Ogbe – Deputy Chairman
  • Mr. ThankGod Odo – Secretary
  • Abali Arumobhel – Assistant Secretary
  • Awodumapu Amakupo – Treasurer

Other officials elected during the exercise include:

  • Financial Secretary – Iseke Enighonobig
  • Organizing Secretary – Noble Afebo
  • Publicity Secretary – Amos Afere
  • Women Leader – Dabibi Ekima
  • Youth Leader – Onimite Gimemazulu
  • Legal Adviser – Edom Enator
  • Auditor – Nanighe Omiekuma

Also elected as Ex-Officio members were Glory Benjamin, Confidence Dokuru, Goodluck Edre, Ninara John, and Egba Anighemi.

Responding on behalf of the newly elected executives, Ward Chairman Hon. Progress Ederi thanked party leaders at the national and state levels for their support and solidarity.

He assured members that the new leadership team would work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them and further strengthen the party’s presence in the ward.

The ward congress forms part of the PDP’s ongoing internal democratic process in Bayelsa State, aimed at strengthening the party structure from the grassroots ahead of future political activities and elections.

Political observers note that the peaceful conduct of the exercise in Ogbia and across the state reinforces the PDP’s strong grassroots organization in Bayelsa.
