Commends President Tinubu for Entrusting Region’s Future to Capable Hands

Yenagoa, May 10, 2025 – The Zonal Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zone and Acting Chairman of the PDP Bayelsa State Working Committee, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has lauded the appointment of Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche and Miss Usoro Akpabio as Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC).

In a statement issued by Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, his Media Assistant, Turnah congratulated the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nwuche, from Rivers State, and Miss Akpabio, a renowned political strategist from Akwa Ibom State, describing their appointments as “a significant milestone” in the journey toward sustainable development in the South-South region.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “visionary leadership and strategic foresight” in not only establishing the SSDC but also entrusting its leadership to individuals with proven records of commitment to public service and regional development.

“These appointments reflect a commendable dedication to inclusive governance and to addressing the unique needs of the South-South. Rt. Hon. Nwuche and Miss Akpabio are both eminently qualified and bring a wealth of experience, integrity, and innovation to the table,” Turnah stated.

He expressed optimism that under their leadership, the SSDC would make meaningful progress in tackling critical issues such as infrastructure deficits, environmental degradation, and economic disparity.

“The Commission symbolizes renewed hope for our people. With Nwuche and Akpabio at the helm, I am confident in the Commission’s ability to launch impactful initiatives that will empower our communities and uplift lives across the region,” he said.

Turnah reaffirmed the PDP South-South Zone’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission, pledging the party’s support in helping realize the Commission’s mandate of transforming the region into a hub of prosperity and opportunity.
