In a move that demonstrates the need for unity and purposeful leadership beyond party lines, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State and Zonal Secretary of the party in the South South, Chief (Barr.) Alabh George Turnah, MON, has paid a courtesy visit to Hon. (Barr.) Edi Orubo, former Federal Commissioner and Bayelsa State Representative at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and a frontline leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbia Constituency One.

The high-level visit, which took place at Hon. Orubo’s residence in Otabagi, Ogbia Local Government Area, saw Chief Turnah in the company of members of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state.

It provided an opportunity for robust deliberations on issues affecting the political, social, and economic advancement of the Ogbia people, Bayelsans at large, and the South South region.

Both leaders engaged in far-reaching discussions on how to foster greater unity, stability, and development across the region in light of current political realities.

They shared common concerns about the need to prioritize the welfare and aspirations of the people over partisan interests.

Chief Turnah, who also leads the NEW Associates in Bayelsa State, a socio-political group devoid of partisanship, reiterated his long-standing belief that politics must transcend party boundaries and focus instead on the shared destiny and well-being of the citizens.

He emphasized that constructive dialogue and mutual respect among leaders of various political affiliations are critical to achieving sustainable development.

In his remarks, Hon. Edi Orubo expressed appreciation for the visit and commended Chief Turnah’s statesmanship and commitment to the growth of the Ogbia kingdom, Bayelsa State and the South South.

He noted that such engagements are essential in promoting a more inclusive and people-centered approach to governance and political participation.

The meeting is a demonstration of maturity and a model for political cooperation aimed at addressing common challenges and building bridges of understanding for the greater good of the people.
