Born on September 3, 1983, in Kolo 3 Town, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State, to Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Olobha Turnah, George Turnah’s story is one of purpose, resilience, and public service. From humble beginnings, he rose to become a leading legal practitioner and influential political figure in Nigeria.
He obtained his LL.B from Niger Delta University, Amassoma in 2008, followed by a BL from the Nigerian Law School in 2010. Driven by academic excellence, he later earned an LL.M from the University of Derby, UK (2018), and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of East London.
His passion for leadership was evident during his undergraduate years. He served as:
2003: Secretary, NANS Joint Campus Committee (Rivers & Bayelsa)
2004–2006: Secretary, NANS Zone B (South-South & South-East)
2007–2008: Vice President, National Affairs, NANS Worldwide
In recognition of his contributions to national development, Turnah was conferred the prestigious national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 2010 at age 27—becoming one of Nigeria’s youngest recipients.

As the Managing Solicitor of George Turnah Chambers, he leads a reputable law firm with offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Yenagoa. The firm specializes in civil/criminal litigation, corporate, petroleum, and environmental law.

George Turnah began his political journey with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998. Over the years, he has served as:
Presidential Campaign Council Member (2011, 2015, 2019, 2023)
Bayelsa State Governorship Campaign Council Member (2003–2023)
Youngest member of the PDP Bayelsa Elders Council (2012)
His leadership within PDP continues today as Zonal Secretary (South-South) and Acting Chairman of the Bayelsa State Chapter.
Through the George Turnah Foundation, he supports education, youth development, sports, health, and aid to vulnerable populations. His philanthropic legacy spans scholarships, football tournaments, disaster response, and grassroots capacity-building.
He is also the Chairman of George Turnah Football Club, focused on empowering talented youth through sports development.
High Chief George Turnah is happily married to Mrs. Jennifer Timipere Turnah, a gracious and supportive partner in life and service. Together, they are blessed with four beautiful daughters:

He remains grounded in Christian values, defined by humility, loyalty, and service to God, community, and country.
Turnah is a revered High Chief and cabinet member of the Ekpeye Council of Chiefs and Traditional Rulers and a role model across Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.
Last month alone, 47 submitted suggestions led to 3 new youth programs and a flood relief initiative in Ogbia LGA.
