About High Chief (Hon) Alabh George Turnah, MON, Esq.

Born on the 3rd of September, 1983, to the esteemed family of Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Olobha Turnah in Kolo 3 Town, Ogbia Local Government Area of present-day Bayelsa State, High Chief (Hon) Barr. Alabh George Turnah is a distinguished legal practitioner, politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist renowned for his commitment to service and excellence.

Alabh George Turnah graduated with an LLB from Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, in 2008 and proceeded to earn his BL from the Nigerian Law School in 2010. He further enhanced his legal expertise by obtaining an LLM from the University of Derby, United Kingdom, in 2018. Currently, he is advancing his academic pursuits as a PhD. research student at the University of East London, United Kingdom.

A Christian by faith, Barr. Turnah exemplifies humility, reliability, respectfulness, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to the service of his community and country. Since his call to the Nigerian Bar in 2010, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the legal field.

During his undergraduate days, Turnah was actively involved in students’ unionism, advocating for better welfare, quality education, a cleaner and safer learning environment, and improved conditions for Nigerian students. In 2003, he was elected Secretary of the Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS JCC) for Rivers and Bayelsa States. In 2004, he became the Secretary of NANS Zone B, which spans eleven states across the South South and South East geopolitical zones of Nigeria and was reelected for a second term in 2006. In 2007, he was elected Vice President, National Affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students Worldwide, and held this position until his graduation in 2008. In recognition of his services and contributions to nation building and national development, he was conferred with the prestigious national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration at the age of 27, making him one of Nigeria’s youngest recipients of this honour in history.

He was appointed into the services of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2010 as Special Assistant on Youth Matters to the Managing Director/CEO. His sterling performance led to his reappointment in 2013, where he effectively engaged and galvanized the region’s youths into productive ventures, ensuring peace and stability critical for the region’s development. An activist at heart, he worked tirelessly for peace in a time of conflict, addressing the struggles for development and resource control by the Region’s youth, who had taken up arms against the Nigerian State.

Barr. Turnah played a major role in resolving these conflicts, contributing to the celebrated proclamation of Presidential Amnesty for the Region’s youth by the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua. In 2020, he was appointed as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State, further solidifying his influence in governance and youth development.

He is the Managing Solicitor of George Turnah Chambers (Optimal Standard Law Firm), with its head office in Lagos and branches in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Yenagoa Bayelsa State. His firm specializes in various areas of legal practice, including civil and criminal litigation, corporate, petroleum, and environmental law, serving as a vital resource for clients and the legal community.

 

Through his numerous endeavours, High Chief (Hon) Alabh George Turnah stands as a beacon of professionalism and philanthropy, deeply committed to the progress and upliftment of society.

Turnah joined circular politics at a young age and aligned with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) formed in 1998. He was elected as Legal Adviser of the PDP, South South Zone in 2022, and subsequently as the Zonal Secretary in 2025, a position he currently holds. Following the dissolution of the Bayelsa State Working Committee of the Party in April 2025, he was appointed to lead a Caretaker Committee as Acting Chairman of the Party in Bayelsa State, while continuing as Zonal Secretary.

In addition to his political career, Turnah is an accomplished entrepreneur who has founded several businesses and serves on the board of numerous conglomerates. He is the Chairman of the Celtic Pride Group of Companies, which includes the Celtic Pride Bottling Company Ltd (producers of Poltic Table Water), Celtic Pride Fish Processing and Packaging Company Ltd, Celtic Pride Farms Ltd, Celtic Pride Hotels Ltd, Celtic Pride Transport and Logistics Company Ltd, Celtic Pride Consult and Events Ltd, and the Celtic Pride Institute of Agricultural Studies, Kolo, among other businesses employing hundreds of Nigerians. He also chairs the George Turnah Football Club and founded the George Turnah Foundation, through which he undertakes philanthropic initiatives in education, sports, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and support for the elderly, the vulnerable, and individuals living with disabilities.

Throughout his political career, he has contributed to the Party in various capacities, including as a member of the Party’s Presidential Campaign Council for the elections in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023, and has participated in the Governorship elections campaign Council in Bayelsa State from 2003 to the latest elections in 2023. Additionally, he was appointed the youngest member of the Elders Council of the Party in Bayelsa State in 2012 and continues to provide valuable services. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a revered High Chief and cabinet member of the Ekpeye Council of Chiefs and Traditional Rulers.

Alabh George Turnah is married to the ever beautiful and charming Mrs. Jennifer Timipere Turnah and the union is blessed with four lovely, beautiful, and adorable children, Miss Eluantaziba George Turnah, Miss Eperetaziba George Turnah, Miss Etotaziba George Turnah and Miss Etulantaziba George Turnah
